Lake Hodges Ultra Again- 3rd DNF or Success?

I’ve signed up to run the Lake Hodges 50K again.  I’ve DNF’ed out of the race twice in the last two years and have a myriad of reasons and excuses for what happened, all within my span of control.  The most basic reason is a lack of mileage and time on feet prior to the races.

I’m working through training now.  The race is Sat, September 18th so I have time for quality training and speed work to get myself to at least 15 minute miles so I can make the time hacks at the Aid Stations (I’m a slow runner).

I’ve done some recent training in Joshua Tree National Park.  Here, I gain gentle vert, sandy trails, heat training and wide open spaces.
