Teriyaki Tofu may not sound that appetizing, but it’s exactly what I was looking to cook on this night.  I was over meat and pasta for the week so I wanted a dish for the family I could make fairly quickly and easily with fresh ingredients that I had on hand.  So, this easy recipe courtesy of NoraCooks was perfect for the dinner I wanted to do on this night.  I added some fresh green beans and a pot of fresh white rice and had a great family meal.I started by just looking up the recipe on the website, NoraCooks.  Once I found it, I took quick pics on my phone and gathered my ingredients.  Luckily, I had most all of them right here in the house- Here we go:

Looks pretty funny huh? The very first part of the recipe tells you to “press” the tofu. So, I wrapped it in paper towels, threw another plate on top of it and put weight on top of that….cast iron worked perfectly.
While I was waiting on the tofu to “press”, I made the fresh teriyaki. Not hard and it came out nice and spicy.
Still waiting the 20 minutes on the tofu to press, I prepped the green beans and started the pot of white rice. I like kitchen efficiency.
Dryed and pressed tofu, ripped (cut) apart with soy sauce drizzled over it and corn starch gently mixed in.
Oil that can withstand high heat should used and hot when you put the tofu in. Then I recommend you leave it for a bit and not flip it, to develop that sear on cooking side of the tofu.
Here’s my Tofu, just flipped, once.
While the Tofu is cooking, mix the cornstarch and water and get it in the pan.
Corn starch mixture and teriyaki added. Let it cook long enough to thicken.
Bam! Now you’ve got some killer semi-crispy teriyaki tofu. Enjoy.

Yup, after mixing the green beans in the sauce right at the end and then throwing that mixture over some fresh rice…we had a great dinner.  Got questions?  Ask-
