Several references to Caleta Lobos discuss anchorage here in moderate weather, but I thought it was fine.

Spring, 2021: We ducked into Caleta Lobos after an all-day run up from Muertos. We had originally planned on going into Balandra Bay but decided the southerlies were too much and Balandra was waaay too crowded for our liking. This was a good call for us. Caleta Lobos was deserted even in the spring except for a lone tent camper on the beach and too far from the main road to hear the noise of any traffic. We loved the solitude and quiet of the anchorage (even close to La Paz) and spent another (extra) night there before we went into the hustle and bustle of La Paz. Tulum fit in the anchorage well but it would have been a tight squeeze if there were more boats at anchor. Several references to Caleta Lobos discuss anchorage here in moderate weather, but I thought it would be ok in most weather; unless you were to receive a moderate to strong southwesterly…ie: nighttime Coromuel.

Ease of anchoring: We anchored in 20-30 feet of water over sand and we had good holding.
Noise at anchor: Not much, unless my reggae was too loud.
Provisioning: None.
Cellular reception at anchor: None.
Wifi in the anchorage: None.
Water Clarity: Not clear water, but better clarity as you get closer to shore.
Protection: Protection from the North, South and East. Little protection from the West- both wind and swells.
Bugs: Because of the mangroves around the shoreline, there is the possibility of bugs (bobos/no-seeums). We didn’t have any because there was a southwesterly blowing that did cause some wind in the anchorage, but we held just fine.
