Right now we have a nasty heat dome sitting over the top of us and everything is feeling the effects. Both the donkeys and the dogs are smart enough to realize how hot it is and seek shade and shelter.
While this nasty heat dome is over us, I limit interactions (training) with the donks, but don’t read into that to think we don’t check on them and their large supply of clean water on a regular basis. Yes, they are drinking more water while it’s this hot and we have an obligation to make sure that supply of clean water is filled and available for animals.
But my title says it all. While there’s excessive heat, we just limit interactions so they can use energy for their own cooling systems…and not have to worry us and what we want when we do interact. So we’ll wait till it’s back in the high 90’s to start some more basic hoof work and other regular training.
