First, Happy New Year to everyone who reads this as we go from 2024-2025.  Yeah, Horah, Fireworks and all that.  Pop some champs and say goodbye and hello. Just the other day, I turned reflective after pulling up next to a schoolie with a family onboard, who had traveled from Florida to Joshua Tree during the winter season.  They asked if we were still traveling after our boat and bus years have come to a close.  I immediately and nearly indigently said “yes” but the truth is, we’re not traveling like they are anymore…but we’re still traveling.  Our travel is different now, more planned and probably actually slower.  The ranch helps to guide our seasons and work has a say too.  But travel is in the eye of the beholder- whether you day travel to get out of the city into some cool mountain air or you hardcore travel by bus or van or something else for months or years on end.  Right now, we find middle ground with planned travel…often camping in tents in places we want to visit with the kids.

2025 will bring more planned travel for us.  We’re excited to see different sets of friends in Hawaii when we go to explore Hawai’i Volcanos National Park on the big island and we’ll spend several weeks over the summer in Colorado as I go to “class” with renowned equine and donkey expert Ross Keller.  While in Colorado we’ll explore the state, probably visiting Mesa Verde, Leadville and Westcliffe as we travel the state.  I’m specifically going to Colorado to work with Ross Keller, adding more depth of knowledge as I slowly work toward starting a fledgling micro-business providing holistic farrier services for donkeys, mules and pigs.

2024 was sweet for the family as we traveled to Japan, worked hard to upkeep, upgrade and modernize our micro-ranch and worked and played as a family.  We’re looking forward to 2025 and I’m hoping you are too-
