Boat Porn. It’s in the blog title….I’m writing about it…..gasp. Boat Porn, I think we need to talk about it. Yes, there are men and women who spend many of their waking hours poring over the internet and certain magazines looking at sexy things that are not their spouses or partners…but certainly have their attention and perhaps will get most of their money someday. [Note: I’m not talking about real pornographic images at all…..I’m alluding ever so subtly to boats]
For those of you who have never been introduced to the term “boat porn” or never spent countless hours slobbering over objects of desire (boats in all forms)…I think you really need to read this post to understand the behavior….or plan the intervention.
Here’s one definition…from Google:
“Boat porn” is a slang term used by maritime enthusiasts to describe highly appealing, aesthetically pleasing, or luxurious vessels (like sleek superyachts or pristine vintage sailboats) showcased in photographs, videos, or magazines, (or websites). The term is used to express admiration for a boat’s beauty.
And another explanation from Urban Dictionary:
Dude! Quit looking at boat porn and get the F back to work!
” Oh that boat porn is just not right! What the hell are you doing?…..EWWWWWW!”
And why would men…or women spend all this time looking at pictures of boats? Dylan on YBW Forum describes boats this way…explaining why you might look at them so much:
boats are usually regarded as being female
they have curves – sometimes nice – sometimes less attractive
they give pleasure
to look at, to feel and to spend time with them
- Online Forums: The term is widely adopted on aggregator sites, such as the Reddit Boat Porncommunity, where users share high-resolution images of stunning marine crafts.

#boatpornon platforms like Instagram to highlight craftsmanship, engine setups, and finishes. - Online Websites: Yeah, the advent of the internet has sparked a boat porn revolution. Now gawkers can go check out just the dream boats they like or all varieties, shapes and sizes of dream boats….in the privacy of their own phone, home or office. We can look at those models we think we can afford, what we can actually swing and those rare birds waaaaay out of our price range, but still so much fun to look at. Think Nordhavn. So, the next time you “happen” across a brokers website or Boats.com or Yachtworld….just admit you are looking at boat porn. Be proud of that time spent by yourself looking over those sultry images on the internet or in the pages of that glossy monthly magazine, because you are fueling the dream. Others are dreaming the same dream about the same rare boat, but that one is yours….at least for those few minutes that you and her are in concert on that internet page.
Yeah, every once in awhile I get to the point I just want to write something silly and provide explanation to those who starve for this info.
So….when you look up the definition of “boat porn” the internet really delivers much more than you expect. There’s few images, but alot of really unique websites that will show you porn on boats….not what I was after in writing this story. So kids….don’t google “boat porn” please, you will get alot more than you bargained for.
