10 November 2021:
Happy “246th” Birthday to the United States Marine Corps and all who have served throughout those years”. Need I say more…Happy Birthday Marines from all of us at LF2SF.
11 November 2021:
Veterans Day is a day to honor all veterans of the US Armed Forces.
“Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans, who are people who have served in the United States Armed Forces (that were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable).[1][2] It coincides with other holidays including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which are celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I.[3] Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. At the urging of major U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.[4]
Veterans Day is distinct from Memorial Day, a U.S. public holiday in May. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day honors those who had died while in military service.[5] Another military holiday that also occurs in May, Armed Forces Day, honors those currently serving in the U.S. military. Additionally, Women Veterans Day is recognized by a growing number of U.S. states that specifically honor women who have served in the U.S. military.” Thanks to Wikipedia for this quote.
We honor and thank each and every veteran of the US Armed Forces for service to our country. My father, uncle, father-in-law, both grandfathers and a myriad of friends have served (or still serve) in the our Armed Forces with honor and I am so grateful for the freedoms that come with their sacrifices. Please take two minutes of silence on 11 November to honor our veterans and just a simple “thank you” will suffice.
LF2SF will take Veterans Day to remember our veterans and we truly thank each and every one for our freedoms. The links below are some of our reminders from past years about these same days:
